Judo in Netherlands

Judo in the Netherlands has a rich history with Olympic Champions Anton Geesink, Wim Ruska and Mark Huizinga. Judo in Holland is popular since the sixties boosted by 14 world titles. Geesink, Ruska and Irene De Kok won multiple world titles. In 2009 the World Championships were held in Rotterdam. The best judoka are Kim Polling, Anicka van Emden, Roy Meyer, Henk Grol, Marhinde Verkerk. Judo in Nederland won almost 100 European titles since 1951. The Judo Bond Nederland JBN is the Dutch Judo Association. The Netherlands organised the Dutch Judo Grand Prix until 2011 and The Hague will host the 2017 Grand Prix for 4 years.
